Understanding Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria

Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) is an intense lack of capacity to process perceived or real criticism, failure, judgement, or rejection. It most commonly affects neurodivergent children and adults, particularly those with ADHD.

In this easy-to-read, informative and valuable book, Rebecca Challoner explores what Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria really is, how it shows up in everyday life, and the profound ways it can impact individuals and those around them. Drawing on professional insight and lived experience, this book is a must-read for parents and carers, educators, clinicians, and adults who struggle with RSD themselves.

This book offers insight, understanding and practical guidance without judgement. It explains where RSD comes from, why traditional approaches often miss the mark, and how it can affect relationships, learning, self-esteem, and mental health.

Grounded in years of research, professional practice, and real-world experience, this book is an essential resource for anyone seeking to better understand, support, or live alongside Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria.

Why I wrote this book!

RSD is a deeply misunderstood experience. That for many children and adults has a profound impact on their lives or the lives of those around them.

I wrote this book for all the adults out there who have struggled through life being crippled by a feeling, without someone ever telling them it’s not their fault. And with the aim of stopping future generations becoming those adults.

Kindle User

A very well written, informative, thought provoking yet easy to read book by Rebecca Challoner. A must read by anyone with, or who works with, teaches or parents someone with RSD. Well done Rebecca, I look forward to reading some of your other books.”

NHB, Amazon User

“I can’t lie, I’m not much of a reader.
Even as an author myself. But Rebecca has made it an absolute pleasure, the pages aren’t overwhelming wall to wall text. It provides colour, graphics, blocks, bite size information that I can easily consume.
I even recently used this book to help in a professional setting to help find the words an individual was struggling to find themselves.

I purchased two, just to give to a family member. Even they were able to use it to help self advocate to get the support they needed.
This book has been a wonderful gift to everyone that couldn’t pin down their experience.”

Connor M Greene, ADHD Expert and Author

“This book is so perfect for ADHDer’s, not only because it contains vital info about RSD but because it’s presented in a way that works for our brains! Bite sizes chunks, contrasting colors and diagrams. It makes it so much easier to follow the content. Absolutely loved this book! Thank you Rebecca for bringing much needed awareness to the experience of RSD.

Steph Robertson, Specialist Occupational Therapist

“Finally some literature on RSD that is written for people who are not in the medical profession! Each time I read this book, I find something else that I have an “aha moment” about. Thank you Rebecca for helping to make things clearer and ease the stigma around RSD.”
